Our Walnut Creek clients have a lovely home on a great piece of land. Their kitchen was charming, but with a busy family and the kitchen the family hub, they desired a new “wow” kitchen makeover with a large island. A 48″ Wolf range with a custom stainless steel hood provided a large part of the “wow” factor, as did the Statuarietto marble countertops. A tall pantry with glass upper doors occupies one end of the room and has bifold doors that open to a smoothie work station. We relocated the sink to face the front of the house and enlarged the window to provide a lovely view. We enlarged the doorway from the front hallway into the kitchen, and from the back hallway into the living room to provide better flow and more light. In this makeover, we expanded the kitchen footprint by capturing the space formerly occupied by a small hallway and shallow pantry cabinets. Our clients chose to keep the red brick fireplace with the pigs head, which contrasts nicely with the transitional style of the room and adds character.
