Our clients are one big happy family (including their dogs)! They love to be together, cook together, and share meals together. And so they came to us with great ideas and enthusiasm for creating a beautiful, functional open-plan kitchen with a large island.
To accommodate the family’s lifestyle, we created a large island with frameless wood Crystal Cabinets. This provides seating for 4 as well as plenty of storage. The perimeter cabinets are white-painted frameless Crystal Cabinets, contrasting nicely with the wood island. For countertops, we chose Cambria gray quartz as a great neutral for the base cabinets. Cambria Brittanica quartz countertop in white and gray with subtle movement is a wonderful complement to the kitchen island. A simple 3″x6″ gray subway tile keeps it clean and contemporary on the backsplash. Berenson’s matte black hardware completes the picture. They turned to Miele for their larger appliances – refrigerator and column freezer, dishwasher, and steam oven, and chose a 36″ Wolf gas cooktop and a Zephyr hood.
The kitchen flows into the dining area, with the family room on one end and the living room on the other end. We installed new hardwood flooring in the kitchen, hallway, and family room to match the existing flooring in the dining and living rooms. We eventually refinished the flooring in the bedrooms to match. Fresh coats of paint in most of the house, and a new front door painted orange, and the house is complete!
