What do you do when your house feels too big, but you still want to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle? These wonderful clients sold their large home in the Oakland Hills and opted for a spacious condo in Rossmoor, complete with outdoor balconies. As passionate foodies and wine enthusiasts, they made the kitchen remodel the crown jewel of their home renovation.
Blue is the favorite color for this lovely couple, so we used a gorgeous blue as the color palette throughout the home. Our clients chose high-end appliances, which we then designed around. SubZero was the choice for the refrigerator and freezer (take a peek at the glass door on the fridge!) and for a tall SubZero wine fridge. Wolf was the choice for the cooktop, speed oven, wall oven, and hood. And as with many of our clients, Miele was the choice for the dishwasher.
Our clients like Shaker cabinets, so we decided on two-toned kitchen cabinetry from Crystal Cabinets: custom blue Shaker doors for the perimeter cabinets and a very light gray for the upper painted cabinets. The wall cabinets had glass doors with obscure glass, which was an elegant touch.
To pull it all together, gorgeous Cambria matte white countertops were chosen. The tile floors are large format tiles – 12×24″ tile with a quiet gray color palette. The backsplash tile is a subway tile of white, blue, and gray mosaic glass. This tile runs up to the ceiling behind the hood, and is the statement element in this kitchen. There is a cabinetry niche in the blue base cabinet for cookbooks, and lots of light from the large, white shuttered windows. All in all, an elegant, colorful, and fun kitchen to cook in and enjoy!
