This award-winning whole-home remodel in San Ramon transformed a traditional residence into a sophisticated modern home designed for gathering, entertaining, and everyday living. Working closely with the homeowners, our design team reimagined nearly every major living space, including an open-plan kitchen, dramatic great room, walk-in pantry, primary bathroom, two bathrooms for their adult children, a custom lounge, modern staircase, cool powder room, and an elegant bar and dining area.
At the center of the home is a spacious open-concept kitchen that flows seamlessly into the great room, creating a welcoming space where family and friends naturally come together. Structural engineering made it possible to remove walls and open the home, bringing in abundant natural light through a 4-panel folding door, while creating uninterrupted sightlines to the outdoor living areas. Rift-cut white oak cabinetry, oversized quartzite waterfall countertops, custom metal hood, designer lighting, and a dramatic floor-to-ceiling quartzite fireplace establish a warm, contemporary aesthetic that carries throughout the home.
Each space was designed with a restrained material palette and carefully considered details. The primary bathroom serves as a serene retreat, featuring warm wood cabinetry, porcelain tile, sleek black fixtures, and clean architectural lines. The two secondary bathrooms continue the modern design language with custom cabinetry, durable finishes, and thoughtful storage designed for daily use.
Beyond the main living areas, the walk-in pantry provides beautifully organized storage, while the custom lounge offers a quiet place to unwind. The adjacent bar and dining room were designed for entertaining, featuring custom cabinetry, integrated lighting, statement stone, and elegant display areas for glassware and collections. A modern staircase with warm wood treads and black steel detailing connects the home’s open living spaces while serving as a sculptural architectural feature.
