Our client loves to entertain and wanted an expansive, light-filled kitchen with a large island where he could host parties and entertain friends. We continued the lovely family room hardwood floors into the kitchen, and sanded and stained them a warm golden color to complement the white and taupe tones of the cabinetry and paint. We built a large island, using Crystal cabinets in Cotton White on the perimeter cabinets and Stone Bluff for the island. The island provides lots of storage, as well as seating for up to four people. Three of the painted cabinets have beautiful mullion glass doors.
We used a combination of two different Caesarstone countertops in white and gray for a subtle contrast. The main backsplash on the range wall was a pale gray 3″ x 12″ glass tile, and the bar backsplash had a more colorful 1″ x 4″ agate tile. On the back wall, we especially liked the 36″ Thermador chimney wall hood and 36″ Thermador range and then chose Bosch for the dishwasher. With such a serene color palette of soft grays and white, we added a whimsical touch with the unique pendant lighting over the island. The kitchen is open plan, leading to a warm and welcoming family room. The newly remodeled space is now bright, with clean lines and just the right lovely space in which to cook, entertain, and throw parties!
