This is the second home that we have worked on for this great family, and we like this primary bath suite even more than the last one! The original bathroom in this 10,000 square foot home had a huge and outdated jetted black marble bathtub centered in the bathroom when you walked in, with his and her showers featuring brass fixtures and shower door frames on either side. There was an abundant amount of Carrera marble on walls and floors, and ornate cabinetry with a sit-down vanity that was out of style. The adjoining walk in closet was cramped and disjointed, and there was a fireplace in the bedroom wall that they would not use as it was misplaced on a wall leading to the bathroom. So together, we completely remodeled the bathroom. Also included in this bathroom remodel project was a complete renovation of the walk-in closet, primary bedroom, and removal of the bedroom fireplace.
The vision was to create a bright and spacious primary bathroom with a stand-alone soaking tub, a large shower with bench and interior towel hooks, and a very large double vanity with lots of storage. We started the bathroom design by centering the soaking tub with the large window featuring a beautiful tree-filled view, and keeping the toilet in a separate water closet. We expanded this bathroom and installed elegant 20×20 Arabesco white tile floors with subtle taupe movement. The shower is a mixture of tile, with OXO Deco Blanco tile on the lower shower wall, and Soho Art Glass in Blue Sea on the upper wall.
We created a long double vanity, with painted cabinets in a Stone Bluff color with a lovely matte finish. We also created a large, stand-alone linen cabinet near the shower. We kept the cabinetry hardware simple with clean, contemporary lines. The countertops are Caesarstone Frosty Carina with a mitered edge. Two large Robern Mirror Cabinets with beveled edge doors provide more storage. Five can lights in the ceiling and three contemporary wall sconces in polished nickel provide plenty of lighting. Finally, was the color palette: we chose beautiful, calming blues with three-dimensional white wall tiles and a bit of sparkly in the shower. The end result was a large, bright and spa-like primary bathroom with a resort feel. Also included in this bathroom remodel project was a complete renovation of the walk-in closet, primary bedroom, and removal of the bedroom fireplace.
