How We Work

Design/Build takes care of the intricate design and construction details so you don’t have to…

How do you find home remodeling contractors? The easy way is to find a licensed general contractor with an in-house design team and construction crew. The design build model focuses on attention to the details, which is the difference between “great” and fine,  and is usually the difference between “on schedule” and “late”.  Our designers listen to you, and work with you to design a space that fulfills your desires aesthetically, meets your needs for function and flow, and works within your budget.  We show you your designs in 3D to help you visualize the space and make your design decisions. Then our remodeling contractor and construction crew step in to make it a reality.

Let Us Walk You Through The Process

As a Diamond Certified company for eight consecutive years, our  expertise will help guide you to some of the best ways to add value to your home, and suggest the right options for your lifestyle. We’re knowledgeable on the current trends, and are with you design-wise, whether you appreciate contemporary lines, transitional or traditional. Our home contractors and craftsmen will then build it with care and expertise.

If we don’t believe we’re the right home remodeling contractor for you, we’ll say so.  Remodeling is like a marriage — and we all want it to be a happy one! We’ll typically provide you with a ballpark figure on the cost of your project, based on historical data and past experience, as well as realistic construction timelines.
  • Complimentary Site Visit: During our visit to your home, we will look at your project, determine the scope of the work, poke around the structure and gain a better understanding of what is possible. We’ll then provide you with a design retainer agreement for your review. When you decide to move forward, you will return the signed retainer agreement with a deposit.
  • Preliminary Proposal: After design development, presentation of preliminary design sketches and agreement on certain big ticket product selections (like cabinets, flooring and electrical), we’ll present you with a preliminary proposal that summarizes your design layout, wish list, and investment range. When the preliminary proposal is signed and a deposit made, your project will have a start date on the construction schedule.

  • Scope of Work: Now we are moving full steam ahead! Design sketches and elevations, product choices including lighting fixtures, flooring, tile, paint, doors, windows and cabinetry are made. Construction Phase:

  • Pre-Construction Meeting: Prior to demolition or construction, our designer and project manager outside of home during remodelwill sit with you to discuss the specifics of your job and lifestyle. It is important for you to understand how the construction phase will work, and what to expect. We need to understand your schedule and that of your family, accessibility to your home and security. We’ll ask you about any health concerns, as well as pets, parking and other specifics. We will also want to hear about your preferences for communication.
  • Construction: We now proceed to the building phase. All materials have been ordered, engineering and building permits have been obtained, crews are scheduled and demolition and construction begin. You can monitor your schedule on your dashboard or smartphone, and you will be in regualr contact with your project manager.
  • Project Completion:Your project is complete, down to the last lovely detail. Punchlist is completed, final Dark wood island with light countertop in kitchen remodelinspection is passed and owner’s acceptance is finalized and we ensure that you are completely happy with your project.
  • Post-construction: We will continue to check in with you for the next year to ensure that all is well. And if you are like most of our clients, chances are, we’ll see you again for your next project!

Why It Works:

Communication is critical, and our interactive software provides live information updates, accessible from either your personal dashboard, or from your smart phone or tablet. All of your product choices are available online, as well as the details of your construction schedule in real-time. Here you have the ability to ask questions, make product and design choices, view your budget, approve change orders and review payment information.

We keep it simple: our clients work with the designers during the design stage,  and the project manager during construction.  Our general contractor owner, who is also a designer, meets with you during the initial stages, and stays informed throughout the project. That’s it.  No missed communication between third parties, no confusion.

A mid-term preliminary keeps the investment range in check. Our references will vouch for us: we stay within budget.  Our mid-stage preliminary proposal calculates the “wish list” to keep us all on track.

Details are worked through: Our team has a good eye for a myriad of details, such as designing ceiling crown mold to tie in with cabinetry crown,  or changing a door swing so the adjacent doors won’t collide ~ details you shouldn’t have to worry about both before and after the project starts. The teamwork between designers and home renovation contractors is key, and it works because they work for the same company.
